Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, has expressed sincere thanks to God over the miraculous manner through which some staff of the Institution were saved from ravaging bandits who waylaid them between Ondo and Osun State at the weekend.
Reacting to news of the failed attempt by gun wielding youth, alleged to be between ages 18 to 30, to hijack the vehicle carrying the staff along the Akure/Ilesa road, the University helmsman admonished staff to be prayerful and more careful even as they prioritize their movements.
The workers, who had traveled to the Akoko area of Ondo State for a social programme at the weekend, were returning to base when they ran into some bandits who attempted to take them hostage before they escaped by the whiskers.
While they all came back safely, some of the workers tell tales of woe as they carry injuries as evidence of the bitter encounter.
Professor Liasu, who said management of the University will forever be grateful to God for His mercies and protection over LAUTECH, professed that there shall be no loss.
