Children offer special prayers for peace, end to insurgency in Adamawa

Primary school pupils in Adamawa on Friday offered special prayers for peace and an end to insurgency in the State and the country.

The prayers were offered by both Muslim and Christian pupils in their respective schools across the state.

They were organized by the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) in collaboration with the state branches of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Muslim Council.

Speaking on the initiative, the Secretary of ADSUBEB, Mallam Salisu Adamu, said the prayers were held across the state in 1, 943 primary schools.

Adamu said the measure was taken to enable “the innocent pupils pray for us as God always answers the prayers of the innocent.”

Representatives of Muslim Council, Malam Abdullahi Damare and that of CAN, Evangelist Dedan Clifford, who supervised the prayers in Yola, said it was a welcome development and should be sustained.

“This period requires prayers for divine intervention; everyone including our children should be prayerful.

They have joined others to pray for peace and an end to attacks by insurgents in Adamawa and other parts of the country”, Damare said.
