BY Nziwu Uchechi

The Nigeria Immigration Service FOB has commissioned another border patrol at Belel Maiha LG in Adamawa state.

The Executive Chairman of Maiha Belel LG, Idi Aminu, who was a former immigration officer, lauded the Comptroller General for his visionary and transformational leadership, resulting in the massive infrastructures across the NIS formations aimed at improving the welfare and conditions of work of the officers.

He commended the Comptroller General of Immigration for his continous effort at covering border areas that were taken by irregular migrants.

‘I am once an immigration officer, so I know the challenges we faced at that time and still except for timely intervention such as this, ” he said.” I am so happy for the officers and men of NIS to have a CGIS who despite challenges and hardship deemed it necessary to build a befitting outpost (forward Operating base) here in Belel in order to provide an enabling working environment for his Officers and men.

He noted that the CGI Babandede has committed to ensuring air tight border patrol and migration control around the Nigeria Border by establishing 15 forward Operation Bases – including the one just commissioned at Belel in Adamawa State.

The Comptroller General reiterated his commitment to visiting every location where the NIS formations are located to feel officers pulse and address issues personally, saying it was his duty to visit the operatives wherever they are stationed as a sign of good leadership.

He further thanked the dignitaries that graced the occasion, especially the Representative of the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; Emir of Mubi, Alh Abubakar Isa Ahmadu and the Damburram Mubi Chief of Belel and others for accommodating the operatives.

Belel is a town in Nigeria located near the Nigerian border with Cameroon. It was founded by Modibbo Dalil and was ruled by two Dynasties. The current Dynasty started from Jauro Sali, an exiled leader from a town called Demsa in Cameroon.
