A tragic road accident involving a 15-seater bus conveying passengers to Warri has claimed the lives of four students of the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The accident occurred on Friday at Kilometer 12, Benin-Sapele-Warri express-road.
Traffic officials said three of the victims died at the spot while one among the five injured ones died at the Benin Central Hospital where they were rushed to for medical attention.
One of the survivors, who gave his name as Collins, disclosed that the students were going to Delta State to attend the funeral ceremony of the grandmother of one of their colleagues.
According to him, the accident occurred when one of the tyres of the bus suddenly burst and the vehicle somersaulted several times into the bush.
Confirming the accident, the Benin Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Luka Ikpi, however attributed it to over-speeding and loss of control.
