Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases rise to 31,323

A total of 575 new cases of COVID19 were recorded across Nigeria on Friday.

In Lagos, 50 COVID19 patients; 13 females and 37 males including 26 foreign nationals were discharged from our Isolation facilities to reunite with the society.

The patients; 6 from Agidingbi, 14 from Eti-Osa (LandMark) 22 from Onikan, 1 from Vidic and 7 from LUTH Isolation Centres were discharged after full recovery and testing negative to COVID19.

Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Patrick Okundia, expressed worry over the alarming rate of community spread of the virus, urging citizens to compliment the government’s efforts at curtailing the spread of the infectious disease.

According to him, “Edo State has recorded a total of 1562 confirmed cases, 7187 suspected cases and 57 deaths. This indicates the worrisome spate of the community spread of the virus, which calls for caution from all citizens to be safe and alive as well as protect the elderly population that make up only five percent of our state’s population.”

He said Edo has now discharged a total of 925 patients and exited 3,769 others, including 3,422 line-listed contacts and 347 persons-of-interest (POI), who have completed the compulsory 14-day follow-up and tested negative.
