Nyanya Village Head wants more security deployment

The Village Head of Nyanya in Abuja, Alhaji Haruna Shuaibu, on Friday, urged the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to his domain to check the spate of bombings in the area.

Making the appeal at the scene of the May 1 blast, Shuaibu said: “enough is enough.
“There was an explosion in Nyanya on April 14 and it happened again on May 1. We complained to the security agencies, we need more security.
“Innocent people are dying, we want government to assist us and mobilise more security agencies to Nyanya and let these bombings come to an end.”

The village head said traditional rulers in the area, including the Karu chiefdom, would soon visit the National Assembly to register their protest over the bombings in the area.
Also, the Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Mr Micah Jiba, told newsmen that the Nyanya motor park would soon be moved to “somewhere else”, but declined to give details.
Jiba said the relocation was one of the measures being taken to address the challenge.

“I want to tell you that very soon; we will relocate this park to somewhere else.
“My appeal to the people who are behind this bombing is that they should stop it, they should be their brothers’ keeper,’’ Jiba urged.
Meanwhile, Pastor Simon Dolly, the National President, Youth Wing, Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), had appealed to Nigerians to set aside their differences and unite to fight terrorism.

Dolly, who also spoke to newsmen on Friday at the scene of the blast in Nyanya, lamented that innocent Nigerians, especially youths, were the victims of the explosions.
“This issue (bombing) is getting out of hand. The Nigerian masses are crying, the innocent, especially the youths are killed every day in this country for no reason.

“What is happening today is not a religious issue, neither is it tribal nor regional, but a plan to destroy this country.
“Nigerians must put their differences aside and come together to fight this evil (terrorism), if not, this thing will not stop.”
