Odegbami joins Ogun Gubernatorial race, says welfare of people his priority

Former Super Eagles Captain Chief Segun Odegbami on Wednesday joined the Governorship race in Ogun State. Odegbami is contesting on the platform of Labour Party.

The ex- international, while declaring his candidacy at the Party Secretariat at Quarry road in Abeokuta, said if elected in next year’s election, his priority would be the welfare of the people of the state.

Odegbami also added that qualitative health care delivery and education would be his priority when he gets to power.

He said, “our government which would be led by Labour Party will provide qualitative healthcare delivery system by building hospitals where necessary. Necessary facilities for proper care, including drugs and personnel would be provided

“I believe that only people with sound health can work and even enjoy any amenities provided by government”.

According to him, hospitals in Nigeria had turned to mortuary because they lacked necessary facilities they needed to save lives of Nigerians

Odegbami revealed that his mother died eleven years after medical doctors in Nigeria had written her off, noting that there is no single public hospital in the country, where an incubator is available for premature babies, which he said has become a thing of the past in advanced countries.

The football legend while berating the falling standard of education in the country, said his government will provide education that will make our graduates to be employable and as well provide jobs for other people.

Labour Party Chairman in Ogun State, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi while welcoming Chief Odegbami and other Party supporters, frowned at the failure of the  APC led government in the State to face various challenges facing the people saying that the problem persist because ” the APC government lacks ideology”.

He said Labour Party remains the only political party that is ready to change the political order which has failed to fashion a State that works for all

Comrade Arabambi vowed that LP led government will do everything within its power to reposition the civil service to  vibrancy and also ensure that it runs a people government.

Also, an aspirant to the State House of Assembly for Abeokuta, 2, State Constituency,  Igbalaye Wasiu Ayodele said Labour Party being a populist Party will ensure that the welfare of the masses is given utmost priority when it takes over government in the State.

Igbalaye enjoined all adults of voting age to obtain their Permanent Voters card to enable them elect credible people into governance during the general elections.
