Wike to Ganduje: I am not dollars, you can’t pocket me

Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has responded to an attack on him by his Kano State counterpart, Abdullahi Ganduje as the campaign for the Edo State governorship election hots up.

Both Ganduje and Wike are pitted against each other as chairmen of the APC and PDP campaign council for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, respectively.

Addressing reporters after his team’s inauguration, Governor Ganduje said his party would isolate Wike and humiliate the Peoples Democratic Party candidate and incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki in the election.

But speaking at the inauguration of the PDP campaign council, in Abuja, on Tuesday, Wike retorted that the threats by Ganduje, to “isolate” him until the elections were over, had exposed the plot by the APC to take undue advantage of security agents.

The Rivers State Governor said it was the Kano governor, who was recorded pocketing thousands of dollars collected from a contractor in a video that went viral, that should be isolated. Wike also said Ganduje was not his match.

“Between me and a man who has been caught pocketing dollars, who deserves to be isolated?” he said. ‪“You cannot pocket me, I am not dollars.”
